Moonrise in the evening garden

Finally… moonflowers.. seeded in early spring, mine did not fare very well this year. Happily I placed a few hardy souls with friends and family who have had better results.  And what a show it is these cool evenings.  Dusk blankets the garden and the tightly wrapped buds take their cue to unfurl enormous blossoms. As in a fairy tale, the clock strikes and the most glamourous white ball gowns take the stage before time runs out.  But these are for real… glowing in the fading light, they could be called nothing other than moonflowers.  And while I’m a little disappointed that they are not right here under my nose, these gorgeous creatures are well worth a short trip to enjoy this annual event.  They have surely earned their place on my seed list
yet again.

Enjoy the show!
