The blue moon occurs when a full moon happens to appear twice within any given month. Unusual, but not unheard of. A very nice sort of magic that doesn’t require quite the patience of other celestial happenings. Once in a blue moon may just be something we can wait for. While you wait, here’s a little medallion to keep your eye on the prize. Made under a blue moon, there’s just a few of these, moon sisters. The one featured in this listing is seen in the 2nd – 7th photos. The photos of the group are shown because, well, they make a nice little family. But this listing is for just the one. It’s all you’ll need.
The 1″ sterling disk is cut to a chubby crescent and sanded to a slightly scratchy satiny finish, then collaged with a reticulated (textured by repeatedly heating with a torch) piece of silver, dark and mysterious like the night sky. A small grey bezel set moonstone rests atop the silver sky in between the points of the crescent. The layered medallion is fortified with a substantial silver wire perimeter that strengthens it from the back, without covering up the collaged pieces. The blue moon hangs from a clever elliptical bail on an 18″ sterling chain.
