Best viewing tonight!
While puttering on Friday, one of my radio favs – Science Friday – announces the peak viewing of the perseid shower… tonight! My ears perk up. I put down the task at hand and search out some tiny gold scraps. One gold nugget ring on the way, meteor-powered. Now you know I’m a geek. Did you suspect it?
Step outside tonight after midnight and take a look up. This time each year, our amazing earth hurtles through the debris-strewn orbital path of comet Swift-Tuttle. The sky show ensues. Peak viewing this year is the dark night of August 11-12, and the 12-13. Find a wealth of information about this night sky treat here.
Take a peek. It’s worth it. Feel small.
