Antlers, mystical and protective weapons bestowed by nature upon creatures adapted to wield them wisely and with intent, as required. Note that we do not have antlers.
blogged, July 3:
Tonight brings with it the full moon of July, known as the buck moon…
“The new antlers of buck deer push out from their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur.” (space.com, full moon names)
Antlers… I know I’ve come across some antler tips… down to the studio to rifle through the cabinet of curiosities my father has left. And yes, here it is. How magical. This cast off of nature, shed by some mighty beast long ago, waiting quietly here to start anew. What power might it hold? It has a protective presence… in the light of the moon it is sure to be more powerful still. A ring for the brave of heart, talisman for the hunted. Tread carefully under the buck moon. The narwhales and unicorns rule the skies tonight.
Set in sterling, size 9.25, the horn protrudes about 1 3/8 inches from a handmade bezel soldiered to a handmade sterling band. One of a kind. To be used with wisdom and care, as the original owner who once wielded this armor surely did.
